Face to Faith
FACE TO FAITH is a joint project co-financed by the Creative Europe Program of the European Union. For a two-year period, since 2020, an intensive co-operation has existed between seven international theatres and festivals: ANTI – Contemporary Art Festival (Finland), Divadlo pod Palmovkou (Czech Republic), Gesher Theatre (Israel), Jam Factory Art Center (Ukraine), Sommerblut Kulturfestival (Germany) – Project Coordination, Teatro dei Venti (Italy) and Teatr Powszechny (Poland).
The international performance project FACE TO FAITH deals with the significance of faith in our society. In theatre projects and conferences, these seven cultural institutions from Germany, Finland, Italy, Israel, Poland, Ukraine, and the Czech Republic question the identity-establishing and political backdrop as well as the unifying and separating issues surrounding the topic of faith. Artists, experts and people of all walks of life are asked to create new perspectives, tell untold stories, and expose conflicts.
Through an Open Call across borders, directors, artists’ collectives and performing artists are invited to realize their outstanding and original concepts within the framework of FACE TO FAITH. Each of the participating cultural institutions produces one of the seven performances created in dialogue with local people and within the cultural environment of the country. After openings in Cologne, Kuopio, Lviv, Modena, Prag, Tel Aviv and Warschau, the productions go on tour, visiting the other cities. The performances are part of three conferences and other public events, obtaining a high level of public attention for the topic of faith in our contemporary society.
