What it's all about
The evening combines a talk with the makers of the virtual reality game SONA with concerts by Debasish Bhattacharjee, Ramesh Shotham and Keshav Purushotham in the beautiful atrium of Cologne's TanzFaktur .
That's why you have to go in
A group of blind and visually impaired people have created a world for SONA in which sounds shape your reality.
Means of democratic co-design were gathered for the creative process: Collective worldbuilding games and sound design workshops were used to gather ideas, stories, texts, characters, voices and sounds for the virtual world.
The SONA team will discuss the joint creative process with Raphael Netolitzky from Blindenverein Köln and other co-creators of the Sommerblut edition of SONA.
Afterwards we look forward to concerts by:
Debasish Bhattacharjee - tabla player, composer and director of the Anubhab Academy, the music school for Indian music in Cologne, is deeply rooted in the classical Indian music tradition and moves in the border area of Indian and Western tradition with various projects. He will be acompanied by Turab Ali Khan (Sitar).
Washed-out synth-pop, hip-hop, krautrock and elements of classical Indian music are shaken up wildly by Keshav Purushotham, founder of the band Keshavara.
Ramesh Shotham - With his subtle, unobtrusive rhythms, the world-famous percussionist and WDR Jazz Prize winner has had a lasting influence on a multitude of musical encounters and has thus become a formative bridge builder between different musical cultures.
Pssst!
SONA runs from May 01 - 10 at TanzFaktur. You can book a 30-minute time slot for your visit here on our website.
