People with Down syndrome are often perceived as apolitical, nice and childlike. Authors from the magazine Ohrenkuss show that this is not true by commenting on the topics of democracy, world politics and human rights.

The reading is divided into three parts:

THEN, people with Down's syndrome were among the first victims in the Nazi era. Almost all of them were killed in the so-called “euthanasia” program. The authors retell two life stories of women with Down's syndrome from this period.

TODAY, people with Down syndrome comment on the world situation. What scares them? How do they react to hatred and exclusion in their everyday lives and in our lives together?

TOMORROW, people with Down's syndrome want a different form of coexistence, which they want to advocate for TODAY.
