The Sommerblut cultural festival is more political than any other. It is inclusive, diverse and barrier-free - in the event program as well as in the festival structures - and has been held annually in May throughout Cologne since 2002. To date, it has delighted over 250,000 visitors with its own productions and guest performances in 1,500 performances at 100 different venues.

Young, old, men, women, trans people, people with and without disabilities. Sommerblut proves how exciting and valuable culture beyond the mainstream can be. Many of our projects give important impulses to the city of Cologne, but also far beyond: we work artistically towards a barrier-free, open, European society.

The Sommerblut Foundation secures the socio-politically and artistically important work of the Sommerblut Festival for the future. All of the Foundation's funds are invested in accordance with strict ethical criteria for the endowment fund.
