democracy needs you

The 24th edition of the Sommerblut cultural festival and it's about nothing less than: Our democracy! In dance, theater, performance, music and talks, we counter the shift to the right with a polyphonic program. Under the motto 'democracy needs you', in 2025 we will take a look at past and current effects of right-wing violence, both structurally and individually, and try out new forms of coexistence. 

At the opening on April 30, Unusual Symptoms and choreographer Adrienn Hód will send a strong signal for diversity. In Harmonia, they throw conventional notions of the body overboard and reorient our gaze. In DEMOCRATIC PLAYGROUND, young performers at the RJM put democratic possibilities for action to the test. Together with the FWT and Anna Kpok, we play out how things could be (TARA). The live film theater project the future is unwritten makes the fatal consequences of right-wing politics tangible and OSTBEGEGNUNGEN creates spaces for encounters between “East” and “West”.
